Interested in trying out the systems we have built? You'll like them! We replicated the Georgia Home Education Association's
site, and have made it publicly editable, so you can take a look at things. Browse through the following first, however,
so you know what you'll be looking at. The link to enter the demo is at the bottom of the page.
NOTE: You must be using Internet Explorer 6.0 or later in order for the rich text editor boxes to work properly. If you
are using another browser, you will not be able to set text attributes such as bold, size, color, alignment, and so forth.
This is the first screen you will see. You will need to
login before you can do anything interesting. The login link is in towards the upper right, above the list of upcoming
events. In this picture we placed a red circle around it.
Once you click on that link, you will be presented with the login page. Use the following information to
login as John Doe, the site administrator:
username: admin
password: password
You will now be returned to the homepage, however, two things have changed:
There is a link to "Admin Central" in the upper right.
You can edit a normal page's content by scrolling to the
bottom and clicking on the link that says "click here to edit this page."
If you click on the Admin Central link, you will be
taken to a page that allows you to work with the advanced features of the site, including the upcoming events calendar,
support groups, membership database, and searchable article library. Feel free to browse around and experiment with things!
A few things worth noting
- When events in the upcoming events calendar are in the past, they automatically are removed from the "upcoming" list. No need
to manually purge them!
- Users can submit their own support groups. All you have to do, as the site administrator, is accept or deny the group,
and they are instantly published to the web, and users can find them by searching for groups in their county. You do not
have to key in any data!
- The membership section is not useful in the demo, as the membership database been emptied of information. We didn't want
to make GHEA's membership database available to the whole world!
- The article library is nearly empty at this point. But feel free to add some categories/articles of your own, and test
things out!
